Ever wish you could talk with someone who understands poetry and the mysteries of love? Someone with a connection to Aphrodite and a great understanding of love. What advice would Sappho give?

Favorite Lesbians of Mine
dear Sappho,
Loved the Vita and Violet kiss scene you posted. If you had to decide whether you were going to be Vita or Violet, would you rather be Vita or Violet or take turns being both ?
At various times in my life I have been both a Vita and a Violet. Of course they are both each great Sapphists who I love and adore. But it is the alchemy of their combined essences that produces such magical Lesbian allure. They, besides Sappho herself were some of my favorite Lesbian Lovers when I young and in love
There's nothing like the real thing, is there? They do seem to have had true love. However intertwining circumstances of power, wealth, class, and sexism took their toll. No wonder supportive families and social networks are so important to the success of long loving relationships.
Both are equally as appealing and romantic in their overtures. When I was young and used to go to Califia a lesbian political summer camp in Southern California in the 70's and 80’s, I once got into a rigorous discussion with some older wiser women on the attributes of being butch or fem.
Taken in the context of earlier decades when lesbians were forced to be invisible and stereotyped, many women hid in plain sight as butch or fem prototypes of their inner Eros. At that time we were debating the pros and cons on which meme would be politically and emotionally more satisfying. I had butch, fem possibilities either way or both ways and I was in a quandary as which would be the best course to take.
Thank Aphrodite we have transcended this narrow reach of identity in the gay community. I asked a wise woman what makes a butch, she replied attitude. What makes a fem, emotional aptitude. Then she told me something which was genius, she said, “You can have both. I want it all.” And so I do I. I want to be Violet tracing Vita’s face and I want to be Vita rowing Violet across the lake of dreams. I want to feel Violet’s passionate longing for Vita and I want to be Vita consummating that passion, and why not? Together they make music, produce magic and transform through the alchemy of love.
If I could, I would take turns being both together at the same time. If that was’nt possible I’d take turns being each separately. I decided long ago it was best to be both and have it all. Nothing is limiting MOST of us but the fear inside. Be brave, be tender be both, have it all, and last but not least, get it while you can.
